Concept, Create, and Collaborate (Text Version)

Tabletop roleplaying games are unique because they are community based. They are social games that use rules to play out specific mechanics and gameplay loops. Whether you are writing your next solo rpg or planning a weekend event as part of your TTRPG club, these games are the products of a collective effort amongst artists, writers, designers, and so many more.

Therefore, I thought it would be necessary to write a manifesto. A declaration to people in tabletop roleplaying games declaring my love, passion, and thoughts about tabletops. I am calling on people to start:

  • Conceptualize: Turn your TTRPG and DnD idea from ideas/concepts into reality. Put your ideas onto something, whether it is an art pad, a word document or inside a piece of tissue paper.
    • They won’t be fleshed out. That is okay.
  • Create: Once you have a concept, create something from it even if it is small, awkward, or “bad”. Put it out there, in whatever capacity that might look like.
    • What do you like most about TTRPGs?
      • Layout?
      • Graphic Design?
      • Digital or Traditional Art?
      • Writing
      • Photoshop and Photo Editing?
        • Identify your interests and create based off that. If your interests change, go with what calls to you.
  • Collaborate: Reach out to others and work with them. Contribute to a community and nurture it to the best of your ability. Your creativity is interlinked between who you know and how they inspire you and change you.

This is a declaration and discussion that has been going on in mind as a creative. I believe a strong stance is what we need in an ever-complicated world as lovers of TTRPGs. This is a call to put your concepts to creation and creation into collaboration. All we have is each other and TTRPGs are bound by that.
